Warnemünde

A sea resort and northmost district of Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, Warnemünde sits at the estuary of the river Warnow and the Baltic Sea.

Founded in the 1200's as a fishing village, Warnemünde plays an important role for the economic and cultural development of the region, despite being overshadowed (and even controlled) by the nearby city of Rostock.

Since the beginning of the 19th century, Warnemünde emerged as an important sea resort with vast dunes and sweeping stretches of sand. It is now a popular cruise destination, due to its location and proximity to Berlin.

Unless you have more than 2 days in port, I would skip Berlin and takes other shorter excursion to Schwerin Castle, or Vismar, a small port and Hanseatic League town, or Lübeck, a Hanseatic city and the second largest city in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany, and one of the major ports of Germany.
